It pays to check out your interest rates

MORE than a quarter of credit card users have never checked the interest rate they are paying, research shows.

The same amount are in the dark as to their current account interest rate, while 13 per cent of savings account holders have never looked at the rate they're being paid, according to moneysupermarket.com. Three in ten couldn't recall when they last checked their savings rate, despite the many accounts with short-term bonuses. Someone with 10,000 in a savings account paying 0.3 per cent, the current average, would get just 30 a year in interest, 250 less than they would get in the current best-buy easy access deal, Coventry Building Society's Poppy Online Saver.
