Isle of Arran unveils ambitious plans on back of record sales

Isle of Arran Distillers has set out plans for a new warehouse that would increase storage capacity by 250 per cent on the back of record sales and increased demand from overseas.

The distillery, which opened its doors in 1995, said it had submitted a planning application to the local authority for the new facility and expected a response soon.

It comes as sales of Arran malts to export markets leapt by 41 per cent in the seven months to the end of July, compared with the same period in 2010. Last year was a record 12 months for the business.

Euan Mitchell, managing director, said: “Our progress has been significant. For us, a new warehouse at the distillery will make a great solution to storing the ever increasing requirement.

“This expansion will also enable increased focus and more presence in new markets such as China and Russia – where we are convinced Arran will be a great success.”
