DISNEY has completed its $4.2 billion (£2.6bn) acquisition of Marvel Entertainment, bringing Spider-Man, Hulk and 5,000 other characters under the same roof as Mickey Mouse and Goofy.
Marvel chief executive Isaac "Ike" Perlmutter, who owned 37 per cent of the company's shares, gave his backing to the deal, unveiled during the summer. He will oversee the Marvel business and report to Disney chief executive Robert Iger, who said the deal can help Disney grow revenue and profits.
