The move by The Tefl Org comes as it experienced a 170 per cent year-on-year increase in worldwide sales of its courses in the 12 months to May. It said the new course is for people with a Tefl qualification keen to gain practical experience of teaching online.

“The new Online Teaching Practicum from The Tefl Org is the first course of its kind to offer online teaching experience to individuals before they start tutoring students of English remotely,” said the business. It added that the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown across the world has accelerated the move towards online learning in general by both students and teachers.

“This trend has led to the remote language learning industry growing as never before,” it added, noting that there are almost 4.5 billion active internet users globally.”

The business said the course is already proving popular, with many sessions selling out. It comprises three two-hour online sessions, over three days, hosted on Zoom.

Jennifer Mackenzie, MD of The Tefl Org, said: “Our new Online Teaching Practicum will help participants stand out from other applicants for relevant Tefl positions as they will have gained practical experience and skills that few other people starting out in this industry will have. “In these difficult times, teaching English online offers flexible hours, good rates of pay and the opportunity to work anywhere.”
