Interserve wins £7m hotel deal

Support services and construction group Interserve has won the £7 million contract to refurbish Dundee’s vacant Tay Hotel.

The listed city centre landmark, built in 1889, will get a new lease of life under the Malmaison brand. It will be the boutique hotel operator’s fourth property in Scotland, following ventures in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The project is part of the £1 billion regeneration of Dundee’s historic waterfront, which will include the new £45m V&A museum.

Interserve said the work would take about a year.
