Information group EDM snaps up CADmeleon

London-headquartered EDM Group, which has an annual turnover of more than £70 million and employs 1,300 staff, has acquired the document scanning and storage business of CADmeleon for an undisclosed sum.

EDM said it believes Scotland is a “key growth market” for its operations north of the Border, which will be renamed EDM Scotland and provide services including document scanning, storage, secure destruction and mailing facilities.

The business, founded in 2000, is on the NHS National Services Scotland patient records services framework, which means it can provide services to hospital trusts and GP practices. Clients include NHS Dumfries and Galloway and Forth Valley GP practices.

EDM Scotland will be led by managing director Liz Rennex along with chief operating officer of EDM, Gordon Nelson. The existing workforce of around 40 from CADmeleon have all transferred to EDM Scotland.

Rennex said: “Our focus will be the provision of technology-based solutions to existing and new clients across public and private sectors including healthcare and financial services companies.”

EDM entered the US market in March last year with the acquisition of Diversified Information Technologies, an information management company now trading as EDM Americas. Its turnover and staff numbers are now roughly equally divided between the UK and America.

The group works with some 700 clients in the UK and 600 clients in the US to help them manage growing volumes of information.

Clients include Companies House, Grant Thornton, HMRC, Legal & General, Lloyds Banking Group and Nationwide Building Society. The company said the information management market was seeing significant growth as organisations look to keep a lid on costs.
