Inflation-busting hikes in pay for professionals

PAY for professional roles in finance and accounting, IT and administration is predicted to rise by an average of 3 per cent next year, according to a new report.

The highest average rises for finance and accounting roles in Scotland will be about 4 per cent for senior positions, the latest Robert Half salary guide suggests.

Within IT, mobile application developers will receive the highest salary increases at about 7.4 per cent.

The predicted increases compare with an inflation rate that is currently hovering around the zero per cent mark but expected to pick up in the months ahead.

Kris Flanagan, associate director, Scotland, at Robert Half UK, commented: “Scottish firms looking to expand their employee base are driving up wages while the war for talent continues.”
