Housing spending ‘should be raised’

Two builders’ organisations are calling for the Scottish Government to raise its spending on housing after a poll they conducted showed it was more popular than transport and infrastructure projects.

A survey on behalf of the Scottish Building Federation and the Chartered Institute of Building Scotland found that the public’s top priority for state capital investment was housing, followed by schools and hospitals.

The organisations said the findings vindicated their call for more money to be spent on the Scottish Government’s affordable housing programme.
