Hotel chain Travelodge checks in major Scots recruitment drive

Budget hotel chain Travelodge is looking to fill 80 roles across its 41 Scottish properties, part of a UK-wide bid to create 500 jobs.

The company, which operates just under 600 hotels and has 10,000 staff across the UK, Ireland and Spain, said the vacant roles north of the Border include hotel manager, assistant manager and supervisor, kitchen and bar café staff, and reception and housekeeping workers. It is also recruiting for six full-time maintenance engineers to join its field team.

"The sheer variety of available roles within Travelodge enables us to welcome jobseekers of all types, from those wishing to start a career in hospitality to students, graduates and those looking to make a career change. Furthermore, our Parents’ Programme makes it easier for mums and dads to work around the school run and climb the career ladder whilst raising their family."

The firm, which opened its first hotel in 1985, recently said it was seeking out 127 hotel sites across London, saying this could represent an investment of more then £3 billion for third-party investors, and create 6,000 jobs.

That came after it in May said recent trading had been “extremely encouraging” amid a resilient low-cost hotel market as it rolled out its new “budget-luxe” design.
