Hornby upbeat as supply row resolved

TOY manufacturer Hornby said it had made a good start to the year and that it was feeling confident in the run-up to the key Christmas period, having resolved problems with suppliers in China.

The maker of model railways, Scalextric car racing kits and Airfix models said all its brands were performing well in Britain and that it expected demand for its Olympics-branded merchandise to build ahead of the London 2012 games.

It noted that the run-up to Christmas would, as always, be key to determining its overall result for the year. Sales last Christmas were impacted by bad weather.
