Highland Fuels turnover surges

HIGHLAND Fuels, which distributes Esso products throughout Scotland, has posted a 31 per cent jump in turnover in 2010 to £173.6 million on the back of high oil prices and demand for heating during tough wintery spells in January and December.

Accounts filed at Companies House also showed that pre-tax profits rose 22 per cent to 2m.

Finance director Isobel Cruden said: "Despite continuing subdued economic conditions in many sectors of the UK economy, the lubricants business achieved encouraging improvements in both turnover and underlying profitability."
