Hermiston becomes Black’s new venture

Commercial property specialist Ewan Black obviously enjoyed working with Hermiston Securities on the Aberdeen Gateway venture, as he’s now joining the firm.

Black, who has 18 years’ experience in property development and management, will take on the role of development director at Hermiston, the commercial property arm of Fife-based Muir Group.

In a career that took him to London for nine years, where he worked for Jones Lang LaSalle and Tishman Speyer, Black has also enjoyed spells in Edinburgh, strengthening his experience with Scottish Widows and his last employer, Stockland.

Having worked with Muir on its Aberdeen joint venture with Stockland, Black will now assist director Ronnie Muir in driving forward projects throughout Scotland, from business parks to hotel and leisure complexes and golf courses.

Edinburgh design agency Heehaw Digital is hoping that new recruit Bryan Gullan will be able to replicate the growth he saw at English rival Torchbox. During his time at the Oxford-based firm, it grew from a team of eight to a staff of 30 and moved from small to large-scale projects. Oxford physics graduate Gullan said: “This is an exciting time for Heehaw and I am delighted to be part of it. As we start to take on really big, chunky projects that can last up to 12 months, we will need a rigour and robustness I know I can deliver.”

The agency said Gullan’s appointment as head of digital development is “a significant milestone” in its expansion strategy. Other recent appointments to Heehaw’s management team include former Civic designer Will Price as head of design and David Goldie, previously of Ambergreen and 360 Innovate, as account director.

Meanwhile, Tayburn, another design agency based in the capital, has hired advertising expert Beverley Hart in the new position of client services director, to lead the development of the UK client base. Formerly deputy managing director of advertising agency The Union, Hart brings a wealth of experience in marketing communications.
