Green hopes high but strategy weak

MORE than three-quarters of Scottish business leaders believe the "green economy" will create jobs and drive exports over the next five years - but only 26 per cent have a strategy in place to capitalise on such growth.

A survey published yesterday by the Carbon Trust in Scotland showed that only one-third of firms were developing "green" products or services.

John Stocks, manager of the Carbon Trust in Scotland, said: "It is reassuring to note there is belief in the green economy, but the lack of actual strategy to take advantage of this needs to be addressed."
