Green body calls on Holyrood for funds

INDUSTRY body Scottish Renewables has called on the government to release funds for a "green energy bank" to boost investment in renewable energy.

The organisation says the bank could be created out of the 200 million Scottish Fossil Fuel Levy Fund – money collected from energy suppliers to help develop renewable sources of energy which remains unspent.

Speaking ahead of the Scottish Renewables conference this week chief executive Niall Stuart said: "This investment would not only move us closer to Scottish and UK targets, it would also allow us to develop expertise to export to the growing market of clean energy."
