Graduate intern scheme hits key 500 milestone

YOUTH employment minister Angela Constance yesterday hailed the success of Adopt an Intern, a scheme that arranges paid work placements for graduates, after the organisation placed its 500th participant.

David Scott, the 500th intern, will undertake an initial three-month placement with Edinburgh-based public relations agency Hot Tin Roof.

Constance said: “The Scottish Government has invested almost £1 million over the last four years to support high-quality, paid graduate placements and 500 represents a considerable return on our investment. I hope to see many more internships taken in the future and wish Hot Tin Roof and David the best of luck.”

Adopt an Intern, run by Joy Lewis, was launched three years ago by the Centre for Scottish Public Policy.
