Gondolas from French ski resort help Edinburgh diners keep their distance

AN Edinburgh restaurant has come up with a novel way to help their customers socially distance in style - by importing six gondolas.

Morningside eatery McLaren’s On The Corner has bought the recycled cable cars from their former home at the Courchevel ski resort in France.

The gondolas were used to whisk skiers to the slopes in the resort, one of the most popular in France.

The trendy capsules seat four people and have been customised with fresh upholstery, subtle lighting and an oak wood table.

Pictures of the gondolas were shared on RoomFood’s social media over the weekend and they have already proved to be a big hit with potential customers.

Alicia Reilly-Alexander said: “Amazing what a great idea - when can we start to book?”

Pat Anderson posted: “Top marks to the proprietor for getting round the rules.”

And Sue Whisler added: “Uncertain times demand creative solutions. Excellent.”
