Global Energy: £37m Easter Ross South Quay upgrade

GLOBAL Energy Group will boost the South Quay in Easter Ross by investing £37 million into its Nigg yard operation.

The engineering firm, which has been at the site since 2011, has submitted paperwork to the Highland Council and Marine Scotland to be given the go-ahead for the work.

The planned upgrade would see 1,000m (32,808ft) of deep water quayside available to shipping at Nigg Energy Park.

The site has stemmed recent decline to become a hub for the renewable energy sector.

The oil and gas industry has also benefitted from the site’s facilities.
