The firm teamed up with Bungie – the US video game developer behind the best-selling Halo series – and publisher Activision to produce the video for Bungie’s forthcoming title Destiny: Rise of Iron.

The title, due to be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles on 20 September, follows on from the initial Destiny game and expansion pack The Taken King.

Axis director Stuart Aitken said: “We have long been huge fans of Bungie’s work, both in the past, and in recent years on Destiny. It’s been a real honour and pleasure for us to work with such a great team on the announcement trailer for Rise of Iron.”

The trailer scenes, produced in collaboration with US creative agency Ant Farm, feature Lord Saladin – a figure known to Destiny gamers as the host of its multiplayer events – accompanied by a pack of wolves as he travels across a snowy wasteland.

Axis producer Anna Dinse added: “We are really proud of the result and hope that the latest expansion is the best yet. Continuing to build on our relationship with Bungie, the team are developing more exciting content together – so keep an eye out for more later this year.”

Axis has previously worked with Canadian developer Relic Entertainment to create a “surreal lucid nightmare” promotional video for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, and teamed up with Balloon Entertainment and Kindle Entertainment to work on a six-part animated series, Kiss Me First, for E4 and Netflix.

It has also created visuals for other blockbuster games including Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty and Halo – as well as the Shaun the Sheep movie.
