Glasgow business park that houses 4,000 people to gain stylish 'coffee pod'

A Glasgow city centre business park that is home to thousands of workers has been given the green light for an outdoor coffee pod.

The coffee pod at Skypark in the Finnieston area has been designed by Glasgow-based firm Ingram Architecture & Design.

The new pod at Skypark in the Finnieston area will take a modular form within a converted shipping container, comprising a glazed end wall with views into a seated area.

To the front of the pod, which has achieved planning consent, there is a galvanised steel walkway with a hinge-up canopy that will provide a serving area for takeaway coffee, adding the first outdoor retail offer to Skypark’s services. An operator has yet to be announced.

Skypark comprises six buildings totalling some 560,000 square feet and a workforce of almost 4,000 people. It is home to some 50 businesses.

The park’s strategic lettings advisor, Angela Higgins of Resonance Capital, said: “Announcing planning consent for the coffee pod is positive news as we drive to improve the retail offer and frontage to Finnieston Street.

“This is a prime retail location and a superb opportunity for an artisan operator to be located at the heart of the Finnieston entertainment hub, accessing our business community and the public.”

Stephen Ellis, senior investment manager, international at Federated Hermes, added: “This planning consent marks a sizeable investment to strengthen the food and beverage line-up at Skypark. Excellent amenities enhance the overall experience of occupiers, allowing them to succeed as part of a vibrant business community.”

The coffee pod has been designed by Glasgow-based firm Ingram Architecture & Design. Property agency Culverwell has been appointed to market the pod.
