The Edinburgh-based firm, which also provides ticketing services for arts and cultural festivals in Canada and South Africa, is now looking to open an office in Australia.

Last week, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society announced that almost 2.3 million tickets had been sold this year, an increase of 5.2 per cent on 2014.

Red61 managing director Tony Davey said: “The vast number of people the Fringe pulls into Scotland is obviously great for the economy, but it also allows Scottish companies to demonstrate what they can deliver and that is exactly what has happened for us.”

Fringe Society chief executive Kath Mainland added: “Red61 has been our ticketing service provider for almost seven years now and I truly believe that during that time we have developed more of a partnership than a business arrangement.”
