Friends Reunited deal is done

ITV has completed the £25 million sale of Friends Reunited to publisher DC Thomson's Brightsolid subsidiary.

The broadcaster yesterday confirmed completion of the deal having been given the green light from competition authorities last month.

Officials had been asked to investigate the tie-up because Friends Reunited owns Genes Reunited and Brightsolid runs findmypast.com and 1911census.com, two of the three largest suppliers of online genealogy services in the UK.
