Fort Kinnaird expansion plans unveiled

UP TO 500 full- and part-time jobs could be created at Edinburgh's Fort Kinnaird retail park under £30 million expansion plans published yesterday.

A consultation with existing tenants, the local community and the wider public has been launched, with proposals including better pedestrian links between the two parts of the site, along with a play park and more restaurants.

Gibraltar Partnership - the joint venture between Hercules Unit Trust and the Crown Estate, which owns the retail park - said it expects to apply for planning permission early next year. An expansion of Fort Kinnaird has been mooted for some time.

Dan Clark, from British Land, which manages the site on behalf of Gibraltar, said: "These proposals represent a considerable investment in Fort Kinnaird, offering important job opportunities."
