Festivals and golf events at the Pinnacle

PINNACLE Telecom, the Stirlingshire-based temporary network provider, yesterday revealed it had won contracts to set up phone and data links for Edinburgh’s festivals and a pair of golf tournaments.

The firm is providing public wireless internet access for the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe as well as building a network for the BBC to use for its festival broadcasts.

Aim-quoted Pinnacle will also set up a network for broadcasters at the tenth Johnnie Walker golf tournament at Gleneagles on 25-28 August and at the Alfred Dunhill links championship, which will be held at Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and St Andrews from 29 September to 2 October.

Celebrities due to take part in this year’s Dunhill include former tennis star Tim Henman.

The golf contracts have been awarded by IMG Group, a global sports and media business, founded in 1960 by Mark McCormack and golf legend Arnold Palmer, before being acquired in 2004 by Ted Forstmann.

The deals follow on from the Scottish firm – which is chaired by former Thus chief executive Bill Allan – completing a similar contract at the Women’s British Open, which was held last month at Carnoustie.
