Fantasy sports firm FanDuel moves to TechCube

A FAST-growing Scottish games company has confirmed it has found new
office space at an “unorthodox” incubator for technology start-ups in Edinburgh.

FanDuel, currently based in offices at Edinburgh University’s Informatics Ventures, will take an entire floor in the TechCube at
the end of the month.

The technology incubator, based at the former Royal Dick Vet building
in Edinburgh, is currently being developed by serial technology entrepreneur Olly Treadway.

Not yet open, the project has involved volunteers from the technology community in the refurbishment in order to ensure it remains a low-cost option for young companies.

Nigel Eccles, who co-founded the US-oriented fantasy sports game along with his wife Lesley as well as other directors, said: “When we set out to start a company here, we wanted to develop a successful business but we also felt by doing so we could help build up a successful tech community here.

“We saw TechCube as
an opportunity to be closer to lots of tech start-ups here.”

Eccles added that the company would be hiring 10 to 15 software engineers in the next six months, ahead of their busiest
period in the American sporting calendar.
