Former British Army soldier Jamie Read is to put employees through their paces at a fitness studio he is opening at a Scottish business park.

Read is launching the Enduro Fit Studio at the Maxim Park site off the M8 next month. The venue will be open 24/7 for people based in Maxim at Eurocentral and further afield.

After leaving the Army, Read worked as a protection professional for wealthy, high-profile families and provided private security services in hotspots including Syria, Somalia and Iraq. He is also a semi-professional mountain biker.

Read said: “Creating the studio is a really exciting development – it allows me to combine my passions for sports, fitness and nutrition in one place and share that with people who want to be the healthiest versions of themselves.

“Enduro Fit Studio will be a functional training facility for people with a variety of different needs, not just a gym where people go to lift weights. Starting a business like this during Covid-19 will be an interesting challenge, but people’s health and fitness will only become more important in the months ahead.”

It was announced earlier this year that US healthcare technology company LumiraDx had inked a deal for space at the park, while Sure Thing Insurance added to its existing operation.

Mark Rabinowitz, director at Maxim Park owner Shelborn Asset Management, said: “Enduro Fit Studio is a great addition to Maxim Park. We have been in discussions with a number of gym operators in the past, but Jamie has the ambition and vision to create something special for our occupiers, their staff, and people in the wider Eurocentral area.

“Despite the impact of Covid-19, we have had a number of positive developments at Maxim over the past year or so, with a variety of new tenants, amenities, and initiatives underway. There has been a great deal of interest in the park since we took ownership nearly two years ago and that has only solidified what we believe: it’s a strong offering in a great location.

“We are in active discussions with a number of potential occupiers and expect more organisations to start looking to offices on business parks, which are easier to manage from an operational perspective – particularly in the current context – than their city centre equivalents. We anticipate a busy period ahead for Maxim.”
