Essential extras make ski trips costly

The cost of a ski holiday can run to hundreds of pounds – on top of flights, meals and accommodation – a report has revealed.

A survey by Quidco found that the added essentials for skiing, such as ski hire, skiwear, ski passes and travel insurance, cost an average of £500 per head – adding up to £2,000 for a family of four. Ski wear and ski passes are among the most pricey items, at almost £100 each, while ending the day with après-ski food and drink can cost an extra £104 per person.

“With the added extras of a ski trip totalling £500 per person, it’s important to plan ahead,” said Hannah Green from Quidco. “Friends and family may have items that can be borrowed and you should also look out for online offers on ski and clothing hire.”
