Environment benefits as consumers cut costs

Half of homeowners are more concerned with energy efficiency as a cost saving measure than last year as bills soar, according to research from M&S Home Insurance.

Over three quarters of homeowners questioned have embraced a range of energy saving measures such as switching lights off when not in a room in a bid to save money, while up to two thirds have made green home improvements such as installing loft or cavity wall insulation.

“In the current economic climate saving money is a huge priority for most households,” said Fleur Carruthers, home insurance manager at M&S Money.
