Enough to drive you nuts?

A SUPERMARKET chain south of the border has withdrawn bags of nuts from sale because they contain nuts. Booths, which has 29 stores in the north of England, decided to pull its Whole Hearted Roasted Monkey Nuts because its label does not declare it contains peanuts.

A spokesman for the company said it had alerted the Food Standards Agency as soon as it became aware of the problem. “Booths is withdrawing some batches of its Whole Hearted Roasted Monkey Nuts, because the presence of peanuts is not declared on the label,” said a spokesman. “This makes the product unsuitable for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.”

An FSA spokeswoman said: “The packaging does not state that the product contains peanuts, which is a specific allergen that’s listed in legislation.”
