The firm, headquartered in Aberdeen with a global workforce of about 2,300, said it is undergoing a “major restructure” to reduce its cost base, combining its operations in the UK and the Scandinavian country.

Chief executive Doug Duguid said his objective was to “right-size” the company in a market where oil, gas and liquefied natural gas prices look set to stay lower “for the foreseeable future”.

He said: “While our operations in the UK and Norway have faced tough challenges, we are continuing to grow our global business with particular bright spots including the Caspian, Australia and Africa.”

The cost-cutting measures include a reduction in salaries and benefits and an end to some ex-pat positions in overseas locations.
