Edinmore storms in with triple turnover

A BUILDING firm which specialises in repairing properties damaged by fires, floods and storms has defied the industry gloom to more than triple its turnover.

Edinmore Contracts is on track to report sales of 4 million by the end of its current financial year on 31 January 2011 and is projecting record profits as it continues to win new work.

In its last year, the Falkirk-based firm generated turnover of 1.2m, though that was down on the 1.6m recorded in the prior 12-month period.

Founded in 2005 and employing six staff, Edinmore Contracts had sales of just 380,000 in its first full year of operation. This year, that headcount has swollen to 54. The repair contractor takes on insurance-related building repairs from fire and flood to storm and malicious damage.

Managing director Clarke Faichnie said the business had "developed considerably" in the past year after securing deals with Oriel Services and Merlin Loss Adjusting and Surveying Services.

"The additional revenue from these clients has brought in approximately 2.5m," he said. "Oriel's network is huge and we are one of only four contractors that they use in Scotland."

Faichnie added: "The recession did affect us as insurers were settling claims with cash rather than involving loss adjusters and contractors. But we are predicting record profits for this financial year at a time when many construction firms are going under."
