Edinburgh's Business Stream bags another major English water supply contract

Power group Eaton has signed a multi-site deal with Business Stream, the Edinburgh-based commercial water retailer.

Jo Dow, chief executive of Business Stream, which is headquartered in Edinburgh and employs some 400 staff. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish Water with its own board and independent management team.

The latest contract, which follows a competitive tendering process, will see Business Stream work with Eaton to generate greater water efficiencies across its 21 sites in England.

In addition, experts will work with the company to understand its trade effluent requirements and help ensure the business remains compliant with regulations.

Headquartered in Edinburgh, Business Stream also has offices in Glasgow and Worthing and employs some 400 staff. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish Water with its own board and independent management team.

The Scottish non-domestic water market was opened up to competition in 2008 with the equivalent English market doing the same in 2017.

Jo Dow, chief executive of Business Stream, said: “We are looking forward to developing a close working relationship with the power management company over the coming years to help them save water, time and money.”

Luke Taplin, procurement manager at Eaton, added: “At Eaton, water usage and waste management are critical pillars of our sustainability strategy.

“We use responsible water practices to maximise our efficient use of resources and minimise any potential negative impacts caused by effluents.

“Through the tendering process it became clear that Business Stream was the right partner to help us achieve our goals. By working with Business Stream, we believe we can achieve greater efficiencies across our English sites.”

Business Stream claims that, to date, it has helped its customers save more than £272 million in discounts and water and energy efficiencies.
