EasyJet passenger numbers climb 8%

LOW-FARES airline EasyJet enjoyed a big rise in passenger numbers last month.

The group carried 5.42 million people in July - an 8.1 per cent increase on its July 2010 total. A total of 53.76 million passengers flew with the airline in the 12 months ending July 2011 - a 12 per cent rise on the previous 12 months. EasyJet's planes flew 91.7 per cent full compared with 90.9 per cent a year earlier.
