Dunelm lifted by wet spring weather

The miserable spring weather gave homeware retailer Dunelm an £8 million sales boost as consumers focused on sprucing up interiors.

The group, which has more than 120 shops selling kitchenware, bedding and rugs, said like-for-like sales rose 10.4 per cent in the last quarter as it benefited from the wettest April and June on record.

As a result of its “exceptionally strong” sales growth, Dunelm said pre-tax profits for the year will be ahead of City expectations at around £96 million, up from £83.6m the previous year.
