Dunedin’s Derry is first private equity chairman for ICAEW’s corporate finance faculty

Giles Derry, a partner at Edinburgh-based private equity firm Dunedin, has been appointed as the first chairman of the corporate finance faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales (ICAEW) to come from a private equity background.

Derry said: “I’m keen to make sure we’re looking at ways to move equity funding up the growth agenda in the UK and internationally – including project finance, private equity, growth capital, venture capital, business angels and start-ups.

“I’m also keen that the faculty continues to broaden its membership of companies, investors and advisers to include other specialist areas of knowledge and consultancy. The extent to which we’re able to provide guidance across all levels of finance in business is a very good thing.”

Derry joined Dunedin in 2005, having previously worked at Sand Aire Private Equity.

He has led investment deals involving Ede’s, Formaplex, Home & Legacy and Red Commerce.
