Directors step in to save Harviestoun

THE future of Clackmannanshire micro-brewery Harviestoun has been secured after a group of Caledonian Brewery directors snapped up the firm.

Harviestoun, which makes ale brands including Bitter and Twisted, was a wholly owned subsidiary of Caledonian.

The acquisition, by Caledonian managing director Stephen Crawley – a long-term shareholder in Harviestoun – with Sandy Orr and Donald MacDonald, comes just a day after it emerged Caledonian is to be sold to Scottish & Newcastle, which is itself set to be taken over by Dutch firm Heineken.
