Daily Mail group cuts 332 regional media jobs

The publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday has cut its regional newspaper workforce by a further 8 per cent as revenues and circulation continue to fall.

Daily Mail & General Trust reported 332 "consumer media" job losses for the three months to 2 January, mainly across Northcliffe Media, which includes some 100 regional titles.

The blow came as Northcliffe suffered a 6 per cent drop in ad revenues and 3 per cent fall in circulation during the period. The fall was maintained in January, down 6 per cent year-on-year.

DMGT's Associated Newspapers national newspaper division saw a better quarter as underlying ad sales rose 5 per cent. However, growth slowed to 2 per cent in January.
