Crunch major threat to city

EDINBURGH is one of the UK cities most exposed to the credit crunch because of its reliance on financial sector jobs, a survey has revealed.

The capital was one of only three big cities featured in the top 40 most vulnerable local authorities, according to research by the consultancy Oxford Economics.

In the ranking of local authorities, Edinburgh was listed as the 14th most exposed.

The research found that Edinburgh's reliance on financial services made it much more vulnerable to heavy job losses than other big cities.
