‘Creative’ incubator site opens

CREATIVE Exchange Leith, an incubator centre for businesses working in the creative industries, was officially opened last night by City of Edinburgh Council economy convenor Councillor Frank Ross.

The centre – which was funded by Creative Scotland, Edinburgh College and the council – will provide accommodation for start-ups and established firms.

Five companies – Border Crossing Media, Designers on the Run, Iglu Studio, SME Professional and Voluntary Arts Scotland – have already moved into the former corn exchange.

Francois Roshdy, a director at Border Crossing Media, said: “Facilities like this are absolutely vital to start ups and small businesses, allowing us to concentrate on developing new services and products without the worry or hassle of trying to find somewhere affordable to work.

“It’s also an ideal set-up for collaboration, and that’s so important to what we do.”
