CPA moves into air barrier technology

CPA, a Shotts-based engineering firm, looks set to grab a share of the £12 million UK "air curtain" market after signing a contract to manufacture a Canadian device.

The Enershield technology creates an "air barrier" that keeps warm air in and cold air out and is used at industrial warehouses and in shop doorways. The makers think it could also have applications in clean rooms.

CPA chief executive Alan Collin said: "Businesses are looking for energy efficiency and, with customers reporting savings of up to 70 per cent on the previous technology, we are very confident about the demand."
