Renowned Edinburgh chef Tom Kitchin speaks to Nicola Sturgeon about hospitality crisis

Star Edinburgh chef Tom Kitchin said he has had a ‘really meaningful conversation’ with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon about the crisis facing the hospitality industry in Scotland due to Covid restrictions.

The famous chef who is the chief proprietor of four Edinburgh-based restaurants The Kitchin, The Scran and Scallie, Southside Scran and The Bonnie Badger, sat down to have a chat with the First Minister as lockdown rules continue to cause challenging economic pressures for hospitality.

The news comes as Kitchin has partnered up with catering giant Compass to be a “culinary ambassador” for their new apprentice scheme which hopes to develop the skills of the next generation of Scottish hospitality.

Tweeting, Mr Kitchin thanked Ms Sturgeon for making time to speak to him about the crisis facing hospitality in Scotland.

In what he claimed was “a really meaningful conversation” Mr Kitchin said: “I hope it leads to changes required saving jobs and businesses while keeping the public safe...”
