Asda stores in Scotland will close on Boxing Day and reward frontline staff with a bonus


The supermarket which normally stays opens throughout Boxing Day operating reduced hours will keep its doors closed at all 631 stores to give thousands of workers time to spend with family over the festive break.
Asda stores will close at 7pm on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day and boxing day.

Hide AdStaff who were due to work on Saturday December 26 will also still be paid for their shift and all its employees will receive a bonus in recognition of their work throughout lockdown.
Bonuses at Asda are normally based on employee’s performances throughout the year, however, this year everyone will receive the full amount possible dependent on their position.
Exactly how much each worker gets will vary and the bonus will be paid into Feburary 2021's paychecks.
In a message to colleagues, Asda boss Roger Burnley said: "This has been a challenging year and you have all done an incredible job, continuing to serve our customers and communities while juggling so many other commitments.

Hide Ad“But it’s also been challenging from a personal perspective as we have not been able to spend time with our families and friends, which has been hard for us all."
"This is of course our busiest time of year," Mr Burnley told staff, but despite this, the stores will remain closed until December 27.
