Sonny Charles, who founded the company in 2014, said the cash injection from Glasgow-based business angel group Kelvin Capital would help to drive its expansion by enabling the introduction of new products and hiring more team members.

Tipple Box delivers cocktail ingredients and “premium” small-batch spirits to customers via a subscription model and has so far sent almost 10,000 boxes across the UK, doubling its sales within its second year of operation. Its products are also available through department store chain John Lewis and online retailer Not On The High Street.

Charles said: “This vital investment will allow us to take Tipple Box to the next level as we prepare for expansion and I know we can build something extraordinary.”

Kelvin Capital director Angus Hay added: “Our investors recognised Sonny’s talent and enthusiasm and there is no doubt that his success so far in creating the Tipple Box brand and concept and gaining a loyal customer base through subscriptions and sales through major online retailers such as John Lewis and Not On The High Street for one-off novel gifts is impressive.

“We are excited about the future for the company and will look forward to watching it grow.”
