Clothes maker cuts 90 jobs

WATERPROOF clothing manufacturer WL Gore is to cut up to 90 jobs in Livingston.

The company, which is world-renowned for its Gore-Tex clothing, is thought to be considering halting production of its Canmore bagpipe bags.

A spokesman confirmed that jobs would go as part of a "relocation" of some of its industrial products division but refused to say how many.

He said a number of options were being considered as part of the business review, including ceasing production of the synthetic pipe bags.

A consultation is under way with staff at the Livingston factory and a spokesman said any decision on job losses would not be made public until staff had been informed.
