Central reports 150% growth

CENTRAL Insurance, the Aberdeen-based brokerage, yesterday posted a 150 per cent year-on-year rise in new business after breaking into Scotland’s two biggest cities.

The firm – which opened an office in Glasgow in January 2010 and took over Edinburgh-based Castle Cairn last December – wrote £3.3 million-worth of insurance premiums for new clients in the three months to 31 December, compared with £1.3m in the same quarter in 2010.

Central is now among the ten biggest brokerages in the UK.

Regional director Tom Aldridge said: “This ongoing success has allowed us to invest further in our staff to help us to continue growing in our key market areas. We recently hired two brokers in Glasgow and an additional three support staff in our Aberdeen office.”
