Carpetright in fresh profits warning

Britain’s largest floor-covering retailer, Carpetright, yesterday warned profits would be at the low end of expectations of £11.8 million to £16.9m, as the consumer spending squeeze took its toll.

The carpets, flooring and beds group, has 503 stores in the UK and 643 group-wide, said UK same-store sales in the 12 weeks to 22 October were down 3 per cent.

The group has already issued two profits warnings this year.
