Capital solicitor in push to train law students in Africa

A SOLICITOR from Edinburgh has helped to train more than 190 African law students as part of a "pro bono" scheme.

Joanne Glover, from DLA Piper's finance and projects practice, was one of 23 lawyers from Europe, the Middle East and Africa who provided training in legal drafting at the Law School of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

The free training will also involve the students beginning traineeships with the international law firm DLA Piper's Tanzania office.

Another Scot with his mind on overseas projects is Darren Bragg, who - at the tender age of 23 - is about to lead AMC Engineering's push into the United States.

Bragg, who joined the Findon-based firm just seven years ago as a machine fitter, will move to the US later this month to become operations manager at the company's new 150,000 Houston base.

AMC Engineering managing director Andrew Polson says: "Darren is a perfect example of what hard work and determination can help you achieve in life."
