Capital move for financial planner Acumen

ACUMEN Financial Planning has boosted its business in Edinburgh with the acquisition of established practice Duckworth Alexander for an undisclosed sum.

As part of the agreement, chartered financial planner Iain Duckworth has joined the team at Acumen and is now based at the firm’s Edinburgh office in Torphichen Street. Duckworth has 34 years’ worth of experience.

Acumen has had an office in the Scottish capital for 11 years and serves many clients, predominately within the medical, education and professional sectors, with advice on retirement planning, tax planning, savings and investments.

Duckworth said: “Acumen Financial Planning have the same values and taken together with a similar investment philosophy gives me confidence that my clients are in safe hands.”

Acumen Financial Planning employs some 30 staff throughout five sites across the UK.

Acumen director David Gow said: “Financial planning has and always will be the number one objective for both Acumen Financial Planning and Duckworth Alexander.

“With very similar investment philosophies and attention to detail it only seems natural that a coming together of the companies will allow existing clients to continue receiving outstanding service and for new clients to experience excellent financial planning for the first time.”
