The move will more than double the amount of warehouse space at the firm’s Broxburn head office, where it will also create a research and development centre that will include two testing chambers, a photo studio and demonstration area.

Managing director Alister McLean said Capital holds more than £2m worth of stock for delivery around the UK and the expanded facility will “greatly reduce” dispatch times for its clients, which include Majestic Wine and Morrisons.

McLean, who founded the company in 1996, added: “This is a very exciting time for our business. Once operational this facility will be one of, if not the very best in the UK and is the perfect statement of intent for where we want the business to head over the coming years.”

Work on the project, managed by Bathgate contractor CM Steel Buildings, is due to complete in September and the facility will be fully operational the following month. As well as roof-mounted solar panels, the site will feature LED lighting to cut energy costs.
