Capital audio firm in deal with US giant

AN EDINBURGH-based business that supplies digital audio products and MP3 players has secured a key agreement with the electrical retail giant Best Buy.

DAD Audio, which was only founded two years ago but is already one of the UK's biggest players in the field, will initially supply the US-based chain with three product lines, including the Speedo Aquabeat Racer waterproof MP3 player.

Best Buy is on an aggressive expansion drive in the UK, recently opening electronics megastores in Essex, Hampshire and the West Midlands, with more to follow. It plans to have up to 80 or so UK outlets within the next four years.

DAD has a client list that includes Amazon, Dixons Travel, Play.com and Hughes Electrical.

Andy Gordon, DAD managing director, said the agreement with Best Buy was projected to generate "seven-figure sales per annum" as the retailer increases its footprint throughout the UK.

He said: "Best Buy is the largest consumer electronics group in the world and has an aggressive growth strategy in place for the UK. There is a great synergy between our goal of bringing the world's best digital audio products to the UK and Best Buy's objective of re-defining the UK electronics consumer experience.

"Our aim will now be to work in partnership to grow sales volume as Best Buy expands its footprint throughout the country while developing further product lines from our brand portfolio."
