Can Group secures key contract at Stanlow refinery

Can Group has secured a key contract to provide in-service inspection services at one of the UK's largest oil refineries.

The five-year deal for Essar Oil’s vast Stanlow refinery will see the Aberdeen-headquartered company provide inspection services for maintenance, turnaround and project activities with the capacity to manage and resource major turnarounds for the Cheshire complex.

Stanlow, which is located near Ellesmere Port, supplies more than 15 per cent of the UK’s transport fuels. This equates to an annual production of more than two billion litres of jet fuel, three billion litres of petrol and three and a half billion litres of diesel

As one of the largest refineries in the country, the site processes more than nine million tonnes of crude oil a year.

This has enabled us to maintain stability within our highly experienced 900-strong workforce.”

The value of the contract was not disclosed. Can Group is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
